Science Cafes: Why They are Important and What We Can Do Better

March 26 @ 4:10 pm4:30 pm

Science professionals giving presentations in public spaces play a critical role in society to build trust in institutions, improve STEM literacy, and develop presenters’ communication skills. Often, these Science Cafe or Science on Tap programs lack the infrastructure, support, or capacity to appropriately evaluate their impact in the community. Learn about the diversity of the science café field, the impact they have in communities, and the importance of data collection and evaluation at these events.

The annual SCIENCE TALK conference, organized by the Association of Science Communicators since 2017, is one of the premiere meetings of the professional science communication/SciComm community. Science Talk aims to serve a wide spectrum of science communicators across the full range of their careers as we seek to be a hub for the professional community. See info on past meetings below or visit our About page to learn about ASC.
