At our core, everyone is a storyteller, especially when it comes to science. Science is all around us, all the time, everywhere we go. Our society is the result of science and continues to make groundbreaking innovations every single day. Therefore science is also what brings us together, in community. We all have a science story to tell and I want to help people connect those stories to the world.
However sometimes we do not always recognize the science in our everyday lives and furthermore the people that helped make it happen. News headlines don’t often tell the whole story and leave us sometimes with more questions than answers. Looking online, science is so much more than people in white lab coats handling vials of various liquids.
This leads us to asking questions like:
- How can we better connect science topics with the public?
- What role does community engagement play in our research?
- How do we build bridges of trust in communities?
- How do we prepare scientists to communicate their research?
